Australia loses 28th soldier in Afghanistan (AP)

CANBERRA, Australia ? A commando killed in a firefight with insurgents has become Australia's 28th fatality in Afghanistan.

Australian Defense Force Chief Lt. Gen. David Hurley said Tuesday that 35-year-old Sgt. Todd Langley was killed by a shot to the head in southern Afghanistan during a joint Australian-Afghan special forces operation Monday. A second Australian soldier was seriously wounded in the same battle.

Hurley says Langley was a decorated veteran on his fifth six-month tour of Afghanistan.

Hurley said he questions how many rotations special forces soldiers can be expected to serve in Afghanistan, but said they volunteer to return.
